Congressional Science Fellow | Interdisciplinary Volcanologist | Fulbrighter | Queer & AAPI Scientist

I'm Robert ("Robby") Goldman, a volcanologist with a Ph.D. from the Unviersity of Illinois and a former NSF Graduate Research Fellow. I am currently the 2023-24 AAAS Congressional Science Fellow sponsored by the Geological Society of America and the U.S. Geological Survey. My research expertise includes numerically simulating the mechanics of volcanic flank eruptions and evaluating public communication strategies used by scientists working at government agencies during volcanic eruptions.
This website is organized into pages that summarize my academic, professional, and volunteer activities, all of which I conduct with three personal goals in mind: 1) improving the ability of U.S. government agencies to prepare for and respond to natural hazards; 2) provide local, state and federal policymakers with the scientific context necessary to write legislation that will best serve the health and well-being of our nation's communities; 3) advocate for increasing the visibility, inclusion, and perspectives of underrepresented scientists.
